The next “Harry Potter”

Does the name Barry Cunningham mean anything to you? It must. This man is the editor who discovered the literary phenomenon Harry Potter.

Well, this man has found two writers that seem to have an imagination comparable to Rowling's.

Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams are writing a marvellous series of books called “Tunnels”. With little money and a lot of optimism they published their first novel “The Highfield Mole”. Few people had the chance to buy it, but one of them reached Barry’s hands.

Barry discovered that inside those pages a huge world of adventures was waiting for a chance.

They re-edited it and changed its name into “Tunnels”.

Due to its fantastic style and its breathtaking story it has become a bestseller and very soon we will be able to watch the film of the first book in the cinema.

The first book “Tunnels” is about a boy, Will, whose father disappears in strange conditions. Will starts to investigate on his own and discovers that there is an entire colony of underground living humans ruled by a strange race called Styx.

The second book was published in 2008, “Deeper”

Last year “Free Fall” was published and very soon we will have in our libraries the fourth book called “Closer”.

SUM 41

Sum 41 is a Canadian rock band from Ontario since 1996. This band is formed of four men: Deryck Whibley, Jason McCaslin, Steve Jocz and Tom Thacker.

The name of the band is because it was formed 41 days after the summer.

Their music is pop rock and punk rock. I know them because a friend told me to listen one of their songs, I liked that song so much that I looked for more songs of Sum 41.

Nowadays it is my favourite music group. They have 5 albums: “Half hour of power”, All killer no filler”, “Does this look infected”, “Chuck” and “Underclass hero”.

They are working now in a new album whose name is “Complicity”. The album will be finished this summer.

One of the reasons why I like this group is because they speak about love, society and their problems.

I don’t have a favourite song because I like them all. The best ones are: “88”, “Always”, “Pieces”, “Thanks for nothing”, “Count your last blessings” and “Still waiting”.

If you listen to one of their songs I think you will like this group.

The iPad reaches Spain

The new creation by Apple will reach Spain in April and like the iPhone it will be a new revolution in technology because of all the new applications it has. It is like a small computer but completely controlled by a modern “touch” technology.

It is bigger than the iPhone with a screen of 9.7 inches with LED technology which will let you enjoy all the different characteristics of the iPad which are similar to those of the iPhone. You can put it in the position you want, vertical or horizontal position, because it adapts to you. The screen is multi-touch which lets you use the screen with a very high precision.

The iPad is easy to use thanks to its 680 g, the 13.4 mm wide and the curved shape it has to hold it easily, and is provided of a lithium battery used in Mac’s personal computers which can last up to 10 long hours while you are listening to music, watching TV or surfing the net. It has a chip, the A4, with an incredible performance which does not waste energy. There are going to be several types of iPad depending on the memory: 16, 32 and 64 Gigabytes. The sound quality is quite good; you can connect your headphones and it has an incorporated microphone.

It has a wireless connection so that you can connect fast to explore the Internet. It also has Bluetooth technology that can be used to connect your iPad to other devices such as wireless loudspeakers or the Apple Wireless keyboard.

The iPad is going to be sold in the U.S.A. the 3rd of April and the date for its sale in Europe is not clear yet. It may be at the end of April. The price in Europe is also unknown but in U.S.A. its cost is going to be 499$ for 16 GB, 599$ for 32 GB and 699$ for 64 GB.

Who wants an iPad?

Breaking Horses

In general I like all sports which are related to animals. The one I prefer is
horse riding and I also like to break horses. I have been riding 3 or 4 times a week since I was 9. Nowadays I’m breaking a horse called ”Brujo”, with the help of Elisa a great horsewoman. Although it seems an easy job it's very difficult. It requires lot of patience and skills. Most of the people know the benefit that horse riding produces in handicapped people. I have proved it because some members of ASAMIS have come to my riding club. These members of ASAMIS feel very good when they see themselves doing a sport of people with great skills and with a great physical strength. When they are riding they feel very good just because they are able to do the same thing as people without handicaps. The horses that are ridden by them need to be horses with a very good training and with a calm temperament. They always need to be helped by someone with a lot of knowledge about horses. Not everybody is allowed to take a horse and control a horse. This work is very hard but it has a great reward, a smile from them.

What do you think about horse riding as a sport?

And what is your opinion about handicapped people riding horses?
