Nuclear energy

Nowadays it is very difficult to talk about a topic like this, but people need to know about it.

It is a type of energy that comes from the energy released when the nucleous of radioactive elements is forced to react with another set of isotopes of the same element, or when the nucleous is broken down and the energy released is used to heat water and move a turbine.

This type of energy is expensive but it is highly productive. There are plenty of radioactive materials but the problem is not that. Even though the materials are used, they still preserve their radioactive properties and they need to be withdrawn. The problem is the treatment of these remains, where to store them. Do you think it is better to throw them into the sea or keep them in an NRS (nuclear remains storage center).

Nuclear energy production plants are very safe and "clean" but not the waste. Nowadays the problem is where to store these remains , or to be exact to install this waste site. There are many candidates but nobody really wants it. It could be beneficial to the surrounding area financially and in jobs, but the probablilty of problems it would bring is higher.

For example the possibility of an accident that could cause the effect of an atomic bomb, or pollute the area forever. Also it could cause genetic mutations that could produce monster children or animals.

Well I think that's all about the topic. I'm trying to warn you about the negative effects of nuclear energy if your town is a candidate for an ATP or NRS .

Thanks for reading

2012 What will happen?

2012 is a film about what could happen that year. In this film radiation from the Sun causes huge earthquakes and volcanic eruptions on Earth causing the death of many species.

There are some real facts which have nothing to do with this film which can make us to think about the possibility that something might really happen. The Mayas predicted that a spectacular change would take place on Earth, to be exact on 21st of December 2012. On this day the Earth will be in line with the Sun and the centre of our galaxy. We don’t know exactly what will happen but scientists believe it could affect the Earth’s poles, changing the climate. There are several legends of people predicting the end of our world and it is obvious that it will happen some day. However, more of these days have gone by already, like in 2000 or the 6th of June 2006. We don’t even know whether what might happen will be good or bad. What do you think?

The Holy Week

I’m going to talk about the things that are done during “The Holy Week” in my village, Navas Del Pinar (Burgos).

Holy Thursday commemorates the Eucharist at the Last Supper of Jesus and the “Chrism Mass” takes place. This day is dedicated to washing feet, which the priest does. Here we remember the sign of Jesus before the Last Supper.

Then “Easter Triduum” begins. In Navas Del Pinar, many people go to the font and the choir sings for the last time before Easter Sunday. Before that, the council is held in front of the priest's house in the garden, here the saints and the “banzos”are auctioned and they will take part in the procession on Sunday.

Holy Friday is the first day of the “Easter Triduum”. This day commemorates the death of Jesus. It also celebrates the Passion and burial of Christ and the story of the Passion according to San Juan is read. In Navas Del Pinar, the “banzos” of the holy shrine and who is going to carry in the body of Christ are auctioned while men and women are singing.

Holy Saturday It is the second day of the “Easter Triduum”. As night comes, the “Easter Vigil” takes place. Mass is held in the afternoon and preceeded with the blessing of holy water.

On Easter Sunday we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. It takes place as the culmination of “The Holy Week” and a new liturgical period begins, "Easter Resurrection". In Navas Del Pinar the procession starts at 12:30. All the women with all the figures (saints, virgins, crosses ...) leave the church and go to the field, while men with the baby Jesus, come from the other side to reach the same place. At this point, women begin to sing, when all the figures, one by one, have to kneel three times in front of the infant Jesus. When the turn of the Virgin arrives, she is placed in front of the child and on the floor. Then the person, who bid the most to remove the black mourning of the virgin, approaches her and removes the black cloak. The virgin is dressed in white and gold clothes, as a sign of joy due to the resurrection of Jesus. The procession goes back to the church., where they proceed to the “Eucharist”, where the mass take place.

With this “The Holy Week” ends.

A hot summer for Christine!

Summer! I imagine that everyone will understand the meaning of the word 'summer',

All right, summer is the season we all wait for all year as it marks the beginning of our holiday. During our hard months of school, all children dream about the arrival of this beautiful season that is characterized by sunny days, swimming pools, boys, girls...

People go on vacation to different places such as beaches, mountains, summer camps, villages, etc. It's like a kind of reward for all the bad weather that we have had during the winter.

There will be some people who don’t like the summer, but to make good use of it we have to be free from homework and exams. When we go on vacation, we usually spend the whole time lying about and sleeping, but to do this we need to work during the school year.

Nobody likes to be working all year and when summer arrives has to stay at home studying or doing homework. So I'm giving you a free piece of advice! Do not waste your time watching TV, chatting on the computer, or doing unnecessary things that you can do in your free time during the summer.

I hope, that after reading this argument you will make the most of your time in doing useful things to improve your future.

Karate Kid Jeannette!

Many people think that martial art sports are violent and aggressive but I'm going to explain them to show you that it isn't true, and all the advantages it can give you.

Martial arts can help you to defend yourself if you have some problems in the street or anywhere, but you are not going to hit people or look for fight. If you did, you could hurt someone seriously and you should only use your training in extreme cases for self defence.

Martial arts teach you self control and how to control your energy. While you do this sport and look after your health, you also increase your patience, use up you extra energy and you vent your bad mood, but always without hurting anyone. People who practise some martial art, like me (I practise karate), take it seriously because we know that we can really hurt someone, so we learn never put our knowledge into practice with others.

There are some cases when someone looks for a fight when they know karate, but they are usually troublemakers that don’t take this sport seriously and don't pay attention to the rules. Most of the people that do these sports increase their patience, have more self-control and are calmer thanks for it. So I encourage people to try it and practice one of them. As for the people who do a martial art, I ask them to be responsible and take care.

Ivan plays Badminton.

Badminton is a very interesting sport that does not require large spaces to play. It is cheap to play which makes it a good choice of sport.

It is very easy to learn, which makes it very popular from the first day you start playing. It is played on a court divided by a net so that there is no physical contact like football. Even so, there are some tense moments because I don´t know what the opponent is going to do.

To play badminton you need at least two players, two rackets and a shuttlecock. There are many types of games: individual male and female, male and female doubles, and mixed. Games are played to three sets of 21 points each. Badminton, as I said before, is easy to learn, but when you reach a certain standard, it is very difficult to improve. It requires great technique, physical strength and a lot of thinking. Some of the most common shots are: drop, clear and smash, but they are very difficult to explain.

Here in Spain and Europe it is not such a popular sports football, but Asia it is everybody's favourite sport as it is played at all hours and in the street. Due to this the level in Asia can not be compared with the level in Europe. Asians come here as coaches to teach us how to play. One of the best players in the world lives in Europe, in Denmark to be exact, his name is Peter Gade.
Here in Soria we have a club and nowadays, although we don't train as much we are the best of Castilla y Leon. And now for everybody who thinks that it is a very gentle sport I invite them to play a match!

Fernando Soto (police)

Marta Etura (Juan’s wife)

This movie is based on the novel by Francisco Pérez Gandalf.

It's about a prison officer, John Oliver, who starts working in a prison in Seville, and on the same day the prisoners start a riot and he is trapped inside the cells with the prisoners. Inside, he has to pose as one more prisoner so he pretends to be a murderer and thanks to his intelligence he became the right hand of “Mala Madre”. He is the chief of the prisoners. The prison guard continues pretending to be a murderer until...

Celda 211 talks about survival, loyalty and courage. It talks about lies and human misery. It shows how in extreme situations one can give the best (or worst) of oneself.

The film Celda 211 was the great winner on Goya night with 8 Goya prizes and 16 nominations, including best film and best director.

When I heard about this movie, I thought that I wouldn’t like it but after seeing it for the first time I completely changed my opinion. It is a very good film, it isn’t like a prison drama or something similar, it is a violent and intense film with a humorous touch.

If you have not seen Celda 211, go to see it!!

The Rolling Stones for Teens.

The Rolling Stones is a British band.

They play Rock & Roll.

It was founded in 1962 by Brian Jones, who was joined by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ian Stewart, Geoff Bradford and Dick Taylor, and Tony who plays the drums.

The Rolling Stones is characterized by simple melodies and simple structures with few chords, accompanied by raw lyrics that touch on social subject matters with an explicitly sexual content. During their extensive career they have been included in many playlists of classic rock and roll with a touch of R&B/Blues, as well as country, folk, reggae and dance.

The first songs were written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Mick Jagger is a rock musician known as the vocalist and composer of this band. He has also worked as a musical and movie producer an actor and a businessman. Jagger has won two Gramm ies with The Rolling Stones and a Golden globe alone.

Keith Richards is a guitarist, singer, composer and British producer. He was chosen in 2003 as number 10 of the 100 best guitarists. Dick Taylor was replaced by Ron Wood who is a guitarist and bassist. Charlie Watts is a bandleader, record producer, commercial artist and horse breeder.

I chose The Rolling Stone to talk about because my father likes them a lot, and the first song that I listened to was Satisfaction. I admire these people because at their age they still work, dance and move, as if they were 20 years old. They are brilliant! However teenagers are not in the habit of listening to this type of music.

School!

We all know that days before our exams are full of stress. Now, being the typical student I am, I´m gonna give you some tips that could help you to "survive".

A common problem often seen in every house where someone is studying is the number of failed subjects. Just relax!! To pass everything you only need to study a little day by day, if not you will accumulate too much work. Also you must be careful doing your exams. Following this advice you will get a good mark for sure.

I recommend not going out most of the time because you will waste time for studying. Toincreasing the productivity of your hour at study you can create some diagrams or schemes that help you to understand the boring information given by teachers. Try it, its effective.

To keep your body in a good physical form is very important because you will liberate of some bad tensions. Be careful with food, light foods make your body assimilate them better an you will not loose long hours feeling sleepy and tired. Not to talk about alcohol, it makes you to forget everything you study, as some evidences say. Remember "la mente sana ill corpora sano" said an italian famous sentence.

Just to finish I must say you thar the second term is about to finish, you must take your time and take it over to have o good easter holidays.

I hope you hadn´t lost plenty of time reading my article, but I spect it have been useful for you. Good luck. Thanks for visiting the blog.
